Weekly Scrawls

My significant other always said that I was like a nail. You have to hit it in order to get things done. Well I'm posting it as my self prodder. It hits me in the head everytime I see it. There's 3 hrs before I go to work . So here's the first one.

Gravitational Influences

Comics. Comics. Comics. As Stan "the Man" Lee once spittooned out "Enuf Said!" I read, bought, anything remotely published in the comic book template. From the Hulk , Little Lulu, Archie, Batman, I read it all. I didn't discriminate. Especially the superhero genre, it kept me at "witzend"(apologies to WallyWood). I could not wait for the next issue to be in my little grubby hands. Jacob Kurtzberg (Jack "King" Kirby) had me howling at the moon with titles like Kamandi, The New Gods, The Eternals, Omac, The Demon,etc. Ahhwooooooooo! Ahwooooooo! ........Sorry about that I'm besides myself. Another ahhwooo and I would have need to change my shorts. Okay foundation of comics and then great artist like Cornwell, Parrish, Leyendecker, Frazetta, Eakins, Monet, Degas, Man Ray, Sayre, Zorn, Sargent, Pogany, Caniff, Giraud, and more.

First things first.

I've a love and hate relationship with my art. I love the things people put out but have a critical and indifferent attitude towards my own work. It's been 21 yrs since I actually have done anything professional or have been in the constant state of mind breathing, living, and moving consciously in the direction of artistic goals.
